VIA is simply a community of people on a journey of discovering the way of Jesus. Now, that doesn't mean being a "Christian" or a "believer" is a prerequisite for being part of this community. "Religion," in it's contemporary connotations, is irrelevant regarding participation or acceptance in VIA's context. What is required is being human; a traveler attempting to navigate the choppy waters of life, a seeker of truth and reality that desires a higher and deeper view, a soul looking for meaning, belonging, and purpose.

If asked about the mission, it's simple: make disciples of Jesus, because we sincerely accept the reality and relevance of the life and teachings of Jesus. Discipleship is not an acceptance of a creed, a submission to a rule, or even a curriculum of lessons that we learn. Discipleship is bigger, grander, more complex. Discipleship is simply a lifelong game of follow-the-leader; Jesus leads, we follow. Many times we're not sure where He's leading or why. But the discoveries we make, and the life-change that happens by following Him proves to us over and over that He satisfies our deep longings, answers our most perplexing questions, fulfills our yearnings for acceptance, and He does it by summing up life in one word: love. It's the most amazing journey, and it's the most amazing life.
